“Beauty Rare” Disney Tradition Review
This Disney Tradition is my absolute favourite Jim Shore piece in my collection so far. It features Aurora sitting on a tree stump near the river surrounded by her woodland friends. While we are accustomed to seeing Aurora in one of her ball gowns, in this particular piece she is wearing her classic Briar Rose dress. I have found it difficult to find pieces of Aurora wearing this outfit, so I was ecstatic when I came across this one. It is a fairly large piece that measures 8 inches tall and 7.75 inches wide that will make a statement on any shelf.
The base of this piece showcases one of Shore’s classic patterns around it in complimenting colours all the way around. His signature details are also spread out through this piece and are not overwhelming in any way. I am in love with the pose they have her seated in as she looks so gentle and calm beside her animal friends. Like every Disney tradition, this piece is cast from a high quality stone resin and is painted by hand.
While admiring this piece you are reminded of scenes from the movie where she escapes her cottage and wanders the forest. You can almost hear her singing “Once Upon a Dream” in her angelic voice. If you are a Sleeping Beauty collector like me, this deserves a spot in your collection. If you have someone in your life who loves Aurora as much as I do, this will make an amazing gift for that person that would not disappoint. It currently has a 4.8 Star rating on amazon with over 100 reviews total (90% of buyers gave this item a 5 star rating). The retail price on this piece is usually under $100 USD, so try not to pay more than that as there are a few retailers who still have it in stock.
