Disney Animated Classics – Review
The Disney Animated Classics books are published by Studio Press Books in the UK and are available at various retailers online. Each book has a canvas cloth cover in a solid colour with a beautiful designs and metallic details. Each book is a retelling of a classic Disney movie which is accompanied by paintings, sketches, and concept art that are directly from the artists who worked on the movie in the studios. Each one of these books is visually stunning and they come in a variety of colours. Each story is written true to the Disney tales we all love and is easy for young readers to read along. At the end of each book, there is an “art of” section where you can find information about the artists who worked on each film.

While most Disney storybooks feature art that was specifically made for that book, these books feature raw and unfinished ideas from the animators themselves. Each book tells the story through the animator’s perspective with various different mediums they used to achieve the final production. I see this series as the perfect balance between a storybook and an “art of” book. Whether you purchase these books as children’s books, or purchase them as a collectible item like me, they will not disappoint. While they are meant to be “children’s books” they are beautiful enough to be worth displaying with other collectibles. I have mine displayed with the other collectibles I have from each film as negative space fillers on my shelf. I have also been using these books as photo props on my Instagram page. These books would also make amazing gifts for the Disney lover in your life whether they are an enthusiast of a specific character or just love Disney altogether.
I currently have copies of The Little Mermaid and Cinderella with Snow White, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty and Alice in Wonderland on the way. I also have Beauty and the Beast and The Nightmare Before Christmas pre-ordered through Amazon for later this year. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these books for the price and while they are on the pricier side for a “children’s book” they would be considered very affordable for a “collectible book”. These books have very high ratings and come with rave reviews from what I have read. These books are available for purchase on Amazon and range in price $10 USD and $22 USD depending if they are on sale or not. If you decide to purchase these books, leave a comment on this post and let me know what you think after you receive them!
