Disney Traditions by Jim Shore

Jim Shore is one of the many Disney artists who work for Enesco. His pieces are made to look like they are hand carved from wood, but they are in fact cast from stone resin. The styling of his pieces is unmistakably his own with signature patterns, details and colour combinations. His folk-art inspired style is well suited for the age group which these pieces appeal to. 

Disney Traditions make for amazing gifts and are available for almost all Disney fandoms. Whether you are a Disney Princess enthusiast like me, you are a Winnie the Pooh fanatic, or you live and breathe Disney Villains, there is surely something that will tickle your fancy from his collection. 

I personally, have a number of Disney Traditions in my personal collection; however, I do prefer some pieces more than others. While most of his pieces are breathtakingly beautiful, there are others that were a miss for me. I am very particular when choosing his pieces, especially when it comes to their faces. I find that some of the faces on his pieces were a little off, in my personal opinion. 

Just like most Disney collectibles available in today’s market, the value of his pieces is increasing over time, and some are extremely hard to find. He releases a number of new collections each year and avid collectors are able to look forward to frequent new releases.

Some of the older pieces are long ago retired and are only available for purchase through the secondary market. eBay has a large variety of the older pieces available, and you might even be lucky enough to win an amazing auction and get a great deal. Most of the new Jim Shore Disney Tradition pieces retail for between $25-$150 USD and are available to purchase online at various retailers. I have purchased most of my new pieces through Amazon, as I find that if you wait long enough the pieces that interest you will periodically go on sale. This being said, I have also waited to see if the price would go down, and it actually went up and I had to make the purchase at the higher price. 

Overall, I believe that the quality and details in the Disney Tradition pieces make them well worth the price point and make a beautiful addition to any Disney collector’s collection.
