The Disney Princess: A Celebration of Art & Creativity Book Review
Published by Chronicle Books and written by Charles Solomon this “Art of” book is visually stunning from cover to cover. The cover of the book features Snow White, our very first Disney Princess on a light pink canvas fabric. The metallic embossed printing on the cover in both red and silver adds a little sparkle, as any book about Disney Princesses should. The back cover features a photo of Snow White’s castle if front of a soft pastel sunset. While one may think that the outside of the book could not be more remarkable, the edges of the pages are holographic silver which makes it even more fit for a princess.
The book features twelve our most beloved heroines we all know as Disney Princesses today. The characters featured are Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida and Moana. The book is laid out into twelve chapters and the princesses appear in chronological order by film. Each Princess is featured over an approximate 20 page spread and shows various pictures from movie stills to rough sketches from the beginning of production. The book also has never-before-seen concept art that was stored in the Disney Achieves and has not been available to the general public until now. Each chapter gives the back story to the inspiration of each film and where it originated from.
I found out many facts from this book that I did not know before reading it. Did you know that over 150 girls auditioned to be the voice of Snow White when they were going through the casting process? Me either. You will learn lots of little bits of information you didn’t know before while reading this book.
This beautiful book is a must have for any Disney Princess collector or any Disney book lover. Whether you decide to add this book to your own collection, or purchase it as a gift for someone else, it will not disappoint. The copy that I have in my personal collection was a gift from my husband and I absolutely adore it. I use it in many of my photos on my Instagram page and it is on display with the rest of my Snow White collection.
